Who is Stia?
Anastasiia Kurkova, professionally known as Stia, is a Ukrainian painter and visual artist and the creator of Emochromism — an artistic approach that explores the emotional and atmospheric power of color, light, and place through painting and digital media.
Born in Mariupol, Ukraine, she studied at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv, where she earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Fine Arts. Her academic training provided a strong foundation in painting, composition, and monumental art.
Her work has been presented in exhibitions and artistic projects across Ukraine and Europe, and is held in private collections in Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Through Emochromism, she develops immersive visual environments shaped by memory, atmosphere, and perception, exploring the relationship between landscape, emotion, and contemporary visual culture.
